PRST 3301 (3-3-0) Lifelong Learning (S-L)

This course is required of all students pursuing completion of an associate or bachelor's degree in the Professional Studies program. The course lays the foundation for the Professional Studies program and will explore major value systems or worldviews; study current issues in the philosophy of Christian higher education; introduce servant leadership; and seek to develop various academic skills. It is expected that all adult students will take this class in their first term of enrollment at DBU. This course contains a field-based service-learning component. PRST 3301 Guidebook fee required.

PRST 3305 (3-3-0) Professional Learning

This course guides the preparation of an academic portfolio, providing adult students the opportunity to translate knowledge and skills obtained through professional experience into as many as 30 academic credit hours in a maximum of two academic areas. The course requires special permission and is only open to Professional Studies students engaged in certain corporate professional partnerships. Because of the time needed for portfolio evaluation, students may not take the course in their final semester. The PRST 3305 course must be completed and the awarded portfolio hours posted to the student’s transcript prior to the student’s final semester. (Evaluation fee required per academic area.)
